2025 World Mental Health Day – Sensitization Road Walk

In continuance commemoration of the October 10th Medical Outreach at the Enugu Correctional Center marking 2025 World Mental Health Day, the Medical Director, Dr Ngozichukwu Nneka Unaogu and other staff of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu, took to the major road of Enugu metropolis on 11th October 2025 on a walk out, enlightening the residents of Enugu State on the need to maintain a good state of mental health.

Mental health is a state of mental well-being that enable people to cope with the stresses of life, realize their ability, learn and work well and contribute to the community.
The Theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day: ACCESS TO SERVICES -MENTAL HEALTH IN CATASTROPHES AND EMERGENCIES.
- highlights the urgent need to support the mental health and psychosocial needs of people affected by humanitarian emergencies.
- crises such as natural disasters, conflict, and public health emergencies cause emotional distress with one in five individuals experiencing a mental health condition.
WHO is involved:- Everyone is involved including government officials, health and social care providers, schools and staff of various community groups.

- Minimize alcohol use.
- Stay away from un-prescribed medications and harmful substances.
- Engage in meaningful and enjoyable activities.
- Engage in creative outlets such as Arts, Music, Classroom learning, Reading and any other hobbies.
