THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE VISIT TO FEDERAL NEUROPSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL ENUGU
The honourable minister of state for Health And Social Welfare Dr.Iziaq Adekunle Salako and his aides which consisted The Special Adviser to the the minister on Technical Matters –Dr.Ololade Kehinde,The Senior Technical Assistant –Dr.Obiajulu Igbo,Dr Okpikpi Okpako, a Director in Federal ministry of Health, Abuja,along side the Board Chairman of National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu Chief Dr Benjamin Omala,the Medical Director Of National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu Prof.Iyidiobi also the Chief Medical Director of University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu Prof. Obinna Onodugo.paid a working visit to the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu(FNHE) on this day 6th of May 2025.
On arrival to the hospital, the minister and his entourage were welcomed into the hospital by the Medical Director Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu Dr Ngozichukwu Unaogu, together with the Top Management staff and the entire staff of the hospital.The hospital under the auspices of the Medical Director Dr.Ngozichukwu Nneka Unaogu had four major completed projects which were to be commissioned by the honourable minister.

(1) The Road network Within The Hospital environment
2)Reconstructed Male Ward
3)Reconstructed Female Ward
4) The Staff clinic complex
While commissioning the road networks,the minister applauded the Medical Director on her good works and stated that the roads will ease the movement of staff and patients within the hospital premises..
The minister together with his aides, management and staff of the hospital toured round the hospital community as he commissioned the rest of the projects.The Medical Director who led the tour stated that the newly commissioned FNHE staff clinic is for general medical services made available for the entire staff members of the hospital.The Minister in his benevolence,gave out a token to some of the patient relatives on behalf of the patients as he inspected the hospital wards.The Medical Director also showed him the Medical Library department ,School Of Nursing Block, the students hostel including the hostel which is still under construction.
The tour ended with a closed door meeting with the Minister and his entourage,the hospital Top management and the various union leaders of the hospital where the medical director appreciated the minister for coming,also stated some of the challenges of the hospital.
The minister in his speech praised the hospital for training nurses and resident doctors.He urged all to join hands with the medical director to enable the hospital achieve more.He further stated that mental health is serious issue,That’s why the Federal Government focus on establishing policy on Mental Health.He assured everyone that mental health is one of the priorities of the Federal Government, through the Ministry Of Health,they ensure a good state of health institutions.
