The Training Of Performance Management System (PMS) Champions Of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu

The Management of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu organized three (3) days training for their Heads of Departments, various units heads and nominees from different departments to equip them on the Performance Management System (PMS). The training started on Tuesday 22nd July to Thursday 24th July 2025 with the Head of Clinical Services (Dr.Vincent Ubochi) who chaired the program, the Director of Administration (Dr. Mrs Ndidi Igwenagu), Head of Training (Dr. Udo Kenechukwu), Head of Personnel (Mrs. Anulika Okoroafor), the various departmental and unit heads and various nominees.
The PMS is a new innovation of the Federal Government of Nigeria to enable all Ministries and Parastatals to dive into the digital world of computing for evaluation of their staff and services thereby phasing out paper work. The evolution of the Performance Management System (PMS) tends to phase out the APER (Annual Performance Evaluation Report) by embracing the practical digital approach of appraisal and assessment of staff. Performance Management System is a key pillar of Federal Civil Service Strategic and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP). The ministry of health through this training set objectives to be able to align to the eight (8) points agenda of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).The first day of the training was centered on the introductory aspect of the concept “Performance Management System (PMS) as the mechanism for aligning organizations missions, goals and objectives with amiable resources. The features of PMS, the rationale for the new PMS, difference between traditional appraisal and performance management system, goals of PMS and means of attaining greater service output.The second day of the training was theoretically based. The facilitator of the training (Mr Innocent Ndubuisi) taught and stressed on the importance and features of the Employee Performance Management System as one of the priorities of the Nigerian president.
The final day was practically based on the various mathematical and statistical calculations. The full participation of the trainees were seen in the way they engulfed themselves in receiving the interesting knowledge of the new package.
