FEDERAL NEUROPSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL ENUGU GETS NEW MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu, gets new Medical Director. She is Dr. Ngozichukwu Nneka Unaogu. Dr. Unaogu was on acting capacity after a tenure of Dr. Monday Igwe. She was appointed by the Nigerian President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, on Monday November 4, 2024 for a tenure of four years.

Acknowledging cheers from jubilant crowd of staff of the hospital, the new Medical Director pledged to be fair to all and to apply the Public Service Rule provisions in the discharge of her duties. She also promised to run open-door administration and asked workers to feel free to come to her office to air their views.

Receiving the Medical Director, the Deputy Director/Head of Administration Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu, (Dr. Mrs. Ndidi Igwenagu), told the cheery crowd that light has come and that the hospital is sure of witnessing a rapid progress. She said that the testimony of Mr. Unaogu, the husband of the new Medical Director was great assurance that the hospital was going to experience a dedicated, principled and disciplined leader. Dr. Mrs. Ndidi Igwenagu urged the staff to give the new Medical Director their total support.

Dr. Udo Kenechukwu (Ag. Head of Clinical Services) praised the new MD as diligent person and expressed the hope that the hospital would experience a new lease of life. Several HODs and Union leaders that spoke at the event congratulated the new Medical Director in her new position and pledged their supports, believing that her period as acting Medical Director was reassuring.

The Chairman, General Staff Welfare Association, FNHE, (Mr. Charles C. Okoronkwo) on behalf of the hospital general staff, congratulated the new Medical Director on her appointment and expressed the delight of the staff on her appointment. He appealed to the Medical Director to do all in her power to maintain the atmosphere of peace that has prevailed in the hospital through her period as acting Medical Director.

The JOHESU Chairman, FNHE branch, Comrade Obinna Eze, expressed his conviction in the ability of Dr. Unaogu to perform well, going by her record in acting capacity. He also pleaded with the new Medical Director to look into the complaints of staff coming to her office with fairness.

Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital Enugu, is undergoing rapid infrastructural upgrade. The one year acting period of Dr. Ngozichukwu Unaogu in the hospital witnessed several projects that are in advanced level of completion even as the hospital is enjoying new network of internal roads that were started and completed before the expiration of the acting period of the new Medical Director.

As the first female and the fifth medical director of the hospital, much is expected. The entire hospital prayed for her and wished her well in her new post.
